FUNDING SUPPORT AVAILABLE FOR APPRENTICES AT RISK 10 Mar 2009
Funding has recently become available to support the South West's tourism, hospitality and retail Apprentices who may be at risk of redundancy.
This funding support is available to Apprentices working within the tourism, hospitality or retail industry within the Sout West of England. This support aims to ensure that Apprentices are retained in employment until they have fully completed their Apprenticeship framework. more...
NEW DIPLOMA - EMPLOYER AWARENESS EVENT 1 Jan 2009
The Diploma in Hospitality is a new and exciting qualification for young people in England that helps them to develop the skills to work in a wide range of careers.
The new Diplomas have been introduced as part of the Government’s 14 - 19 education reforms. Seventeen Diplomas will be phased in by 2011, with the Diploma in Hospitality being taught in 2009.

A trainee cook looks set to see her dream of becoming a top chef come true thanks to a partnership between her employers The Beachlands Hotel in Weston-super-Mare and one of the seaside town's leading training providers.
Seventeen-year-old Laura Ward, who lives in Weston-super-Mare, has enrolled on an Apprenticeship programme in association with the Business Enterprise Centre at Weston College and is learning culinary skills in the college's world-class training facilities while also earning money by working in the hotel's kitchens.
The former Wyvern School Pupil, who was runner up in the College's Chef of the Year competition in June 2007, said "I really enjoy what I do and I love being able to learn at the same time as working. The chef I aspire to be like is Gordon Ramsay" more...
